What is Reverse Osmosis?
Reverse osmosis is a water purification process that forces water through a semi-permeable membrane with microscopic pores. These pores are small enough to allow water molecules through while blocking dissolved salts, heavy metals, organic compounds, bacteria, and virtually every other contaminant.
The membrane at the heart of an RO system has pores measuring just 0.0001 microns -- roughly 500,000 times smaller than a human hair. At that scale, even dissolved chemicals that pass through conventional carbon filters are rejected and flushed away, leaving only pure H2O on the other side.
